The art and dichroic glass used to create the Butterbloom’s cabochons are hand cut and layered to achieve the desired effect. The cabochons are fired in a kiln for 14 hours and then cooled for hand-shaping on a grinding wheel. Once the cabochon is in it’s final shape it is fire polished. Due to the variations in glass colors and patterns, the fused glass cabochons are each “one of a kind”.
The solid brass is made up of 85% copper and 15% zinc and is not antique plated. The metal is nickel and lead-free and is made in the USA.
Czech Glass Beads:
Glass making in the Czech Republic is an age old cottage industry. Now these glass beads are still formed by pressing a heated glass rod into a mold of pressed glass to form the hole of the bead. These high quality glass beads have a beautiful range of color but due to the way the glass is made, there may be subtle color variations from one bead batch to the next.
The highest quality lead glass crystals are manufactured in Wattens, Austria. A specialized manufacturing process ensures the highest possible degree of precision which produces brilliant crystals. Avoid exposing the crystals to water, chemicals, or harsh treatment from work or sports. Always remove jewelry with Swarovski crystals prior to swimming and after applying makeup and lotions to skin. Mild soap, water, and a soft cloth should be used for cleaning. Swarovski crystals have a brilliant shine that is far superior to the shine of an imitation crystal. Scratches on the surface of the crystal or an oily sheen is indicative of an imitation crystal.
The alcohol ink used on various pieces is an acid-free, transparent ink meant to give the material a "stained" look vs being painted.
Patinas are opaque inks specially made to adhere to metal. The patina ink creates a beautiful and durable effect and is permanent. A matte glaze is brushed on top of the patina painted brass metal providing a clear top coat that is a matte finish. It is non-yellowing and non-cracking and contains no acid.
Crystal Core Faux Pearls:
More durable and easier to maintain than real pearls. Made with a long-lasting crystal core, these finished crystal pearls shine in the light with a pearlescent coating that's both lovely and tough. Swarovski's high quality construction also assures that these pearl beads won't chip around the holes like other pearls can.
